Our devotional message this week is "New Every Morning,”
with Pastor Ricardo Graham
We live in tumultuous times. It can be frightening and discouraging to watch the news on TV. The prophet Jeremiah has much he can tell us in his book rightly titled Lamentations.
This book climaxes Jeremiah’s 40 years of prophesying that national apostasy would lead to God’s judgment. But in the midst of his lamenting, Jeremiah realizes that God has been faithful, even to the unfaithful people who are His children, and that God would continue to be faithful.
Look at Lamentations 3:22-23: “Because of the Lord’s great love we are not consumed, for his compassions never fail. They are new every morning.”
No matter how bad things get, our hope in the Lord springs eternal, because He is eternal. God is faithful, no matter what. He can be counted on to be merciful to us, because that’s just the way He is. And because that is true, we have hope for today and tomorrow.
While each new day brings its own set of challenges, God is with us. It is a promise that is repeated throughout Scripture. Jesus promises in Matthew 28:20, “I am with you always, even unto the end of the world.” God has not forsaken us and never will.
We people of faith have hope that is found in the Lord. Systems will fail. Organizations will fail. Friends and family will fail. Governmental leaders will fail to realize our hopes. But if we trust in the Lord, our hope will never be disappointed.
Our ultimate hope is the Second Coming of Christ. And our daily hope is in the ever-present power of God to save us now, this very moment, from the influence of the enemy. May all God’s people continue to put their trust in the Lord.
